  1. Preheat the oven at 350 degrees. In a medium bowl, mix the flour, baking soda, and salt. Do not sift as this will separate the particles of the whole wheat pastry flour. Mix the dry ingredients with a fork.
  2. In a small bowl, whisk the eggs and vanilla and set aside.
  3. In a large bowl, cream the butter and sugar until light and fluffy. Gradually add the egg mixture and stir until well blended. Add the bananas. You can expect the batter to appear lumpy.
  4. Add the flour mixture and blend just until the dry ingredients are wet. Fold in the walnuts and chocolate chips.
  5. Bake 45 -55 minutes or until a toothpick inserted into the middle of the loaf comes out clean. Allow to cool on a wire rack about 10 minutes then turn out of the pan and allow to cool completely.
